Phys. Rev. 140, B514–B515 (1965)Gravitational Effects of LuminosityReceived 29 March 1965; revised 28 June 1965; published in the issue dated October 1965 It is shown that the gravitational effects of the photons (or neutrinos) radiated from a point mass are accurately treated in the Newtonian approximation. Contrary to implication elsewhere, such luminosity does not lead to a new inward force (which is shown to violate causality), the only significant effect being the monotonic reduction of the gravitational attraction due to the energy loss via the radiation. © 1965 The American Physical Society URL:
