The reaction C12+α→Be8+Be8 was studied in the range of α energy 11.85 MeVEαin19.4 MeV. The Be8 nuclei were detected by a suitable counter system registering the α-particle decay products. The cross section for this reaction was found to be quite large. A number of resonances were identified, and their spins and parities were determined by angular-distribution measurements. There is an indication of a rotational-band pattern of some of the levels.
