The thick-target yield of the reaction T+D→α+n+17.6 MeV

has been measured, using a heavy-ice target, and observations have been made on the angular distribution of the α-particles. Experiments have been conducted in the region 15-kev to 125-kev incident triton energy. Within this range the angular distribution appears to be isotropic in the center-of-gravity system. The cross section for the reaction as a function of energy has been evaluated from the thick-target yield measurements. It appears to rise more rapidly with energy than is required by a simple Gamow function.
