Phys. Rev. 88, 309–311 (1952)Superconductivity of RheniumReceived 7 July 1952; published in the issue dated October 1952 Measurements have been made in the liquid helium temperature region of the magnetic threshold curve of rhenium by observations of the magnetic moment of a powdered sample. The transition temperature Tc in zero magnetic field was found to be 2.42°K, and the observed slope of the threshold curve at T=Tc was 235 gauss per degree. Assuming a reversible transition, the value of the normal electronic specific heat coefficient γ obtained from the magnetic data is 4.6×101-4 calories per mole per degree2, a value which would be expected from the correlation between γ/V and Tc previously proposed. © 1952 The American Physical Society URL:
