Alexander Y. Potekhin *
Alexander V. Turbiner † Received 8 January 2001; published 16 May 2001 The quadrupole moment of a hydrogen atom in a magnetic field B for field strengths from 0 to 4.414×1013 G is calculated by two different methods. The first method is variational, and based on a single trial function. The second method deals with a solution of the Schrödinger equation in the form of a linear combination of Landau orbitals. ©2001 The American Physical Society
