Phys. Rev. B 64, 104416 (2001) [5 pages]First-order transition from antiferromagnetism to ferromagnetism in Ce(Fe0.96Al0.04)2
M. A. Manekar, S. Chaudhary, M. K. Chattopadhyay, K. J. Singh, S. B. Roy *, and P. Chaddah Received 23 April 2001; published 22 August 2001 Taking the pseudobinary C15 Laves phase compound Ce(Fe0.96Al0.04)2 as a paradigm for studying a ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic phase transition, we present interesting thermomagnetic history effects in magnetotransport as well as magnetization measurements across this phase transition. A comparison is made with history effects observed across the ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic transition in R0.5Sr0.5MnO3 crystals. ©2001 The American Physical Society
