N. S. Dalal and R. Fu Received 3 May 2001; published 11 September 2001 Undoped and Cr3+-doped KTiOPO4 (KTP) systems were studied by means of 31P nuclear-magnetic-resonance measurements. The high-resolution 31P isotropic-chemical-shift measurements were employed as a new probe in addition to the laboratory and rotating frame spin-lattice relaxation-time measurements. As a result, two phase-transitional behaviors ascribed to the changes in the dominant charge carriers were well characterized. Furthermore, it was found that the Cr3+ doping of the KTP system results in significant shifts in the transition temperatures. ©2001 The American Physical Society
