Extremely large particle-size effect was found on the phase transition in III-IV phase transition in CsZnPO4 (CZP) and the thermodynamic studies were made by high-precision calorimetry and synchrotron-radiation x-ray powder diffractometry. The phase transition was not observed in the single crystals smaller than 0.1 mm, while the crystals larger than 0.25 mm showed the III-IV phase transition at 220 K. The diffractometry revealed that the powder sample had the structure of phase III from room temperature to liquid-nitrogen temperature.
