We have applied gamma-ray spectroscopy and selection techniques to study for the first time high spin states in 114Xe. This provides evidence for broken reflection symmetry near the N=Z line in medium-mass nuclei. We discuss simple scaling for enhanced E1’s in nuclei exhibiting broken reflection symmetry.
