We show that the momentum-dependent potentials employed in molecular dynamical models of nucleus-nucleus collisions to simulate the effects of the Pauli principle do not sufficiently restrict the nucleonic degrees of freedom. This leads to an overprediction of the nuclear heat capacity which is shown to strongly hinder the multifragmentation process.
