Phys. Rev. D 72, 015001 (2005) [7 pages]Sterile neutrinos and global symmetries
J. Sayre, S. Wiesenfeldt, and S. Willenbrock Received 21 April 2005; published 1 July 2005 We use an effective-field-theory approach to construct models with naturally light sterile neutrinos, due to either exact or accidental global symmetries. The most attractive models we find are based on gauge symmetries, either discrete or continuous. We give examples of simple models based on ZN, U(1)′, and SU(2)′. ©2005 The American Physical Society
