Volume 88, Issue 18

Plot of initial-velocity conditions for the capture of a fullerene molecule by a carbon nanotube through an opening in the tube wall. Red areas are trajectories leading to encapsulation. The other colored areas lead to capture, scattering within the tube, and escape, either in the backward (green) or the forward (blue) direction. Initial conditions not leading to capture are in white. [Savas Berber, Young-Kyun Kwon, and David Tománek, Phys. Rev. Lett. 88, 185502 (2002)]
