First observation of a flux-vortex lattice in the high-Tc superconductor La1.83 Sr0.17 CuO4, using small-angle neutron scattering. As an applied magnetic field is increased, the lattice changes from triangular (not shown) to square (a). Then, as the c axis of the crystal is rotated away from the magnetic field, the square lattice distorts to rhomboid (b). [R. Gilardi, J. Mesot, A. Drew, U. Divakar, S. L. Lee, E. M. Forgan, O.
