First results from the KamLAND neutrino-oscillation experiment measuring the ν̅e flux from distant nuclear reactors. When combined with data from earlier reactor experiments, the KamLAND result gives the first direct evidence for the disappearance in flight of ν̅e's and supports the "large mixing angle" solution to the solar neutrino problem.
