Computational mesh used in simulations of nanoindentation, studying how the results of the simulation scale with tip size. By adapting the mesh to the deformation field (as shown), the calculations provide full atomistic resolution in the area under the indenter, allowing the size of the system to be reduced by five orders of magnitude.
