Representation of a proposed nano-oscillator capable of gigahertz oscillations; both sealed and "presealed" versions are depicted. In the device, an inner carbon nanotube (yellow) oscillates inside a larger tube under the influence of the van der Waals force between them; the sealing would help to prevent contamination. [S. B.
