Volume 92, Issue 14

Model plot of the density distribution (red-green areas) of an excess neutron in a 14C nucleus. A molecular-orbital calculation suggests that this nucleus consists of three alpha clusters (blue spheres) forming an equilateral triangle in the xy plane, surrounded by two additional neutrons. [N. Itagaki, T. Otsuka, K. Ikeda, and S. Okabe, Phys. Rev. Lett. 92, 142501 (2004)]
