Magnetic-field strength and direction of a simulated 5-GHz EM wave propagating into the plane, guided by a metal microstrip. The microstrip has been given a substrate of left-handed optical material (below the yellow bands); in this region, the magnetic field has circulation opposite to the field in the right-handed material above.
