Physical Review Letters – 20 February 2004
Volume 92, Issue 7

The color plot shows upper limits for the northern-hemisphere flux of extraterrestrial neutrinos from one year of data from the AMANDA-II Cherenkov detector, part of the Antarctic Muon and Neutrino Detector Array. AMANDA-II views the northern hemisphere by using the Earth to filter out background muons produced by cosmic rays hitting the atmosphere. [J. Ahrens et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 92, 071102 (2004)]
