Illustration of an imaging process for atomic d-wave scattering; the scattered distribution is projected onto the yz plane by laser-light absorption. The quantum nature of slow-atom collisions has been demonstrated by imaging collisions of ultracold Rb atoms and showing the effect of interference between outgoing s and d partial waves.
